Membership
Responsible for devising ways to increase and maintain membership
Professional Development & Education
Purpose to promote programs and projects to educate and inform members for their professional development and to gain industry knowledge. This is primarily done through chapter meetings.
Women In Construction (WIC) Week
Purpose is to recognize and participate in national Women In Construction week. Daily activities are planned such as coffee chats with industry leaders, networking opportunities, volunteering, tours, building together, and other unity activities. This year's theme is Together We Rise.
Diversity Equity & Inclusion
Our DEI committee drives initiatives that promote belonging, uplifts underrepresented voices and helps shape a more equitable future. Get involved and help us lead meaningful change!
Community Involvement
Purpose is to participate in activities to give back to the community. We generally strive for 1 event per quarter.
Audit
Purpose is to audit chapter financial records and verify correctness prior to the filing of taxes. The members of this committee are selected by the Immediate Past President.
Finance
Purpose is assist the Treasurer to develop and maintain the budget and financials for the chapter. The members of this committee are set out in the NAWIC Bylaws.
Safety & Awards
Provide safety and health information to members, their companies, and construction industry. Present safety tip each meeting and circulate safety information to members. Review and recommend NAWIC Safety & Excellence Chapter Level Award Winner as well as members and local programs for regional and national awards.
Marketing
Purpose is to let community know about activities of Austin NAWIC chapter through advertising, written articles, press releases, email correspondence, evites, office visits and social media sites.
Ways & Means: Clay Shoot Fundraiser
Purpose is to raise funds for our Chapters local scholarships.
Ways & Means: Golf Tournament Fundraiser
Purpose is to raise funds for our Chapters local scholarships.
Youth Education: Construction Technology & Professional Speakers to Schools/Nonprofits
Purpose is to be a resource to local secondary education programs.
Youth Education: Scholarship
Purpose is to award local construction student funds to supplement their education. Our local chapter provides two different scholarship opportunities. In April, Academic Scholarship applications are due for those pursuing Associates or Bachelors degrees. In July, Trade Scholarship applications are due for those students accepted and/or indentured to an apprenticeship program.
Youth Education: UT Girl Day
Purpose is to plan and execute programming to introduce girls to careers in construction at UT Engineering School's UT Girl Day.
Youth Education: Camp NAWIC
Purpose is of the camp to introduce female (and nonbinary) students to opportunities in the field of construction. This camp is free to attendees and will teach them basic elements of various construction trades with lots of hands on experiences. Committee opportunities include soliciting sponsorships, developing curriculum, outreach for participants and speakers, organizing volunteers, organizing meals and much more.
Youth Education: NEF PROGRAMS / BLOCK KIDS
Responsible for promoting NAWIC Education Foundation programs. Block Kids Building Contest is a program developed by NEF and sponsored by local NAWIC chapters. Purpose is to introduce student grades 1-6 to the construction activity in a positive and challenging way. The program is a one-day contest in January annually.
