NAWIC Scholarships

In additional to the national scholarship fund offered by NFSF, Austin NAWIC is proud to offer local scholarship opportunities to students pursuing a career in construction.

ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS

ELIGIBILITY

A. Applicant must be currently enrolled in a construction-related associate’s or bachelor's degree program at a college or university in Texas with have at least two semesters remaining to a degree in a construction-related field or must be graduating from a Texas high school and havebeen accepted into a construction-related associate’s or bachelor's degree program.

B. Applicant must desire a career in a construction related field (architecture, construction, or engineering).

C. Applicant must be enrolled full-time.

D. Applicant must have a current cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher to be considered for awards.

E. NAWIC Austin members and their immediate families are not eligible.

REQUIREMENTS 

Applicant is responsible for ensuring that all items listed below are submitted to the NAWIC Austin Chapter Scholarship Committee and received by Friday, April 24, 2026. Please attach as follows:
A. Completed and signed application form.

B. Transcript of grades for three most recent semesters.

C. Financial need explanation (one-page limit).

D. Proof of enrollment or acceptance into an architectural, construction, or engineering program.

AWARDS

A. NAWIC Austin will award three Scholarships for the 2026-2027 Academic year. One (1) $10,000 and Two (2) $5,000.

B. Scholarships are not automatically renewed. Students will be considered for subsequent awards if they provide evidence of continued need, continued interest in construction, continued enrollment, and good standing in a program leading to a certification of degree in a construction related field.

C. The Austin NAWIC Scholarship Committee will review applications and select winners. The Committee will consider applicant’s interest in construction, grades, extracurricular activities, employment experience, and financial need. The Committee will notify all applicants of their status no later than June 1, 2026.

D. Applicants selected may be subject to a personal interview with a representative of the NAWIC Austin Scholarship Committee.

E. Checks will be sent directly to the school’s financial office in August, prior to the Fall 2026 school year.

All applications are due no later than Friday, April 24, 2026, with supporting material, to the Austin Chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction by email: [email protected] with the subject line of “Austin NAWIC Academic Scholarship Application”

TRADE PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIPS

ELIGIBILITY

Applicant must be currently indentured or enrolled in (or have been accepted into) a US Department of Labor Office of Apprenticeship registered construction related training/apprenticeship program, technical school in a construction trade or equivalent. Austin NAWIC members and their immediate families are not eligible.

REQUIREMENTS

Applicant is responsible for submitting their signed and completed application form, and financial need essay to the NAWIC Austin Chapter scholarship committee for receipt by Friday, July 24, 2026.

AWARDS

A. NAWIC Austin will award nineteen (21) scholarships for the 2026-2027 Academic year. One (1) - $3,000 Marcell Ellison Memorial Scholarship; One (1) - $1,000 Fatima Velazquez Memorial Scholarship; and Nineteen (19) - $2,000 NAWIC Austin Scholarship.$2,000

B. The Austin NAWIC Scholarship Committee will review applications and select winners. The Committee will consider the applicant’s interest in construction, extracurricular activities, employment experience, and financial need. The Committee will notify all applicants of their status no later than Friday, September 4, 2026.

Application
